Our mission is to address poverty and facilitate social change to inspire citizenship that is active, engaged and impactful.
Community Chest started in 1928 as a collective response to the needs of citizens who suffered under the heavy weight of the many challenges brought about by poverty and economic injustice experienced by the majority of South Africans.

Many factors contribute to the success of the Community Chest Western Cape, and our stature as a leading grant-making organization over the last nine decades, supported by our reputation as Thought Leaders on social development.
