When disaster strikes, community matters.

The Community Chest team, in partnership with the City of Cape Town Disaster Management, visited Jeff Masemola Road in Khayelitsha, Site B, to provide much-needed humanitarian relief to families affected by the recent fires.

In times of crisis, a helping hand can bring comfort to those who need it most.

Cape Town, August 2026 — Community Chest of the Western Cape celebrated Women’s Day by hosting a special “Let’s Brunch” event for the wonderful female residents of iThemba Old Age Home in Khayelitsha.

The morning was all about celebrating and honouring our elders, with a delicious brunch, live music, pampering by therapists from the Beauty Therapy Institute and beautiful goodie bags filled with treats generously donated by Clicks, Essence Cosmetics, Manhattan Sweets and Blue Ribbon.

This July, Community Chest of the Western Cape will honour Mandela Month by hosting a weekly soup kitchen every Friday throughout the month, providing hot meals to vulnerable community members, people experiencing homelessness and anyone in need.
