Capacity Building Training

Our data tell us that there are more than 40,000 NPOs in the Western Cape. Unfortunately, more than 70% are non-compliant. We have a long history of supporting NPOs – organisations and individuals who are passionate but may not have the necessary skills sets and/or resources.

The Department of Social Development (DSD), which provides these services, is constrained. We work hard to fill this void through our Capacity-Building Training (CBT), which equips NPOs to access our Donations-in-Kind (DIK) and grant funding and to increase their institutional capacities.

To survive, NPOs need more than funds. They need to be efficient if they are to create sustained impacts in their communities and to qualify for additional funding.

While many people want to make a difference, many founders have little or no formal training in running organisations. Our training opens people’s minds to the required management, legal and social duties and responsibilities. We invest a great deal of effort into making our province’s NPOs more efficient.

The Community Chest of the Western Cape’s Capacity-Building Training helps leaders to become accountable, which fosters democracy and social justice, builds integrity into NPOs’ activities, and allows for accurate reporting on the impacts being achieved.

We have begun to partner with the DSD’s Institutional Capacity-Building Unit, with more than 100 emerging NPOs benefitting from our Capacity-Building Training in a period of just months.
