Community Chest Joins Forces with Good Hope FM and the City of Cape Town for 'Keep Cape Town Warm' Campaign

Winter in the Mother City brings sharp temperature drops and sudden storms. While many can bundle up, thousands of vulnerable people face the cold without the basic comfort of a blanket, a warm meal, or a safe place to sleep.

To combat this, Community Chest has once again partnered with Good Hope FM for the annual ‘Keep Cape Town Warm’ campaign—and this year, the initiative proudly welcomes the City of Cape Town to the mission.

Running from April 22 to June 20, the campaign is calling on Capetonians, schools, businesses, and community groups to stand together and extend a helping hand. Last year, the Mother City's generosity resulted in over 5,000 non-perishable items and 1,400 blankets collected to benefit 41 NPOs across the city. This year, Community Chest and its partners aim to make an even greater impact.

How the Public Can Get Involved:

  • Donate Goods: Blankets and non-perishable foods can be dropped off at the SABC Studios in Sea Point, or at any of Good Hope FM's live school broadcasts of the Roger Goode Breakfast over the coming weeks.

  • Donate Funds: Cash donations are accepted at the live broadcasts or through dedicated donation platforms.

  • The Finale: The campaign will wrap up the week of June 20th with a special live Good Hope FM broadcast hosted directly from the Community Chest HQ.

By giving just a little, the community can collectively change the winter for thousands of people who would otherwise face the cold alone.
